Days turn to weeks.
Weeks turn to months.
Summer break approaches. Two more days until the school year ends.
Detective Casalte is no closer to solving this case. He has lost all objectivity. He thinks he is in love.
They are taking things slow, by worldly standards. Julia even started attending Sam’s church. But stll no confirmation of faith, even with her obvious miracle.
He questions her on this.
She tries to avoid his interogation tactics.
Sam persists.
He calls up the school superintendent to present his findings.
Julia is a smart woman, but still struggling in many areas of life.
She even stopped drinking.
Started teaching a ballet class afterschool. Isabella is one of her top pupils.
She just wanted something light and casual. Not this. Not like this.
Afternoon after ballet class.
“I’m not asking for the world. Just open up a bit more. I haven’t even met your family. Your parents.” Sam begins to become agitated.
Julia paces the ballet studio floor.
“What?!” she exclaims.
“You give me nothing. All I know about you is stuff I found out about you snooping around. I had to hunt evidence about you!”, the detective declares.
Julia states “Exactly! There’s things I don’t….I can’t share with you. I told you I wanted to keep things casual.”
“So, what was I supposed to be, a ‘Spring fling’? Sam asks.
“Why are you like this? You keep pressing for committal? Life isnt like that. Nothing last forever. Of…of all people. YOU should know that! C’mon Roger!!!” She snaps back at him.
Sam is hurt and physically pulls away. He turns a foot away from her. Hurt but understanding. A bit.
Realizing how badly she messed up, Julia extends her hand unto his, like on their first dinner date months earlier.
But he pulls away still.
